Each week the team at Reelgood digs into the data to identify the most popular streaming movies and TV shows from the weekend (August 6th – 8th, 2021). There were a number of big changes in the top ten this week, including the addition of James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad and HBO’s The White Lotus taking over the top spots. On the television front there were a number of movements in the top 10. HBO’s The White Lotus continues to succeed and took over the number one spot this weekend. Apple TV+ is also basking in the success of its flagship show Ted Lasso, which is undoubtedly still crushing due to the release of its highly anticipated second season. Newcomers to the weekend top 10 include Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s Mr. Corman, Netflix’s Hit & Run and Daniel Radcliffe’s Miracle Workers.

As for the weekend movie slate, it’s no surprise that James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad took the top spot. While the villainous flick didn’t smash the weekend box office, it sure was popular on HBOMax. Outside of The Suicide Squad, newcomers to the top ten include Val Kilmer’s Val, Netflix’s Vivo and Prime Video’s Jolt. Chris Pratt’s The Tomorrow War is still hanging on alongside Space Jam: A New Legacy and A Quiet Place Part II.
