What do we know about the plot of The Great Season 3?

As Season 2 of The Great concluded, Catherine and Peter found themselves in a continuous struggle for power, despite Catherine’s confession of her feelings and the birth of their son, Paul. Upon discovering Peter’s affair with her mother, Catherine’s fury leads her to stab a peasant impersonating Peter, revealing her capacity to kill her husband. This revelation certainly doesn’t bode well for their marriage as we head into Season 3.

In Season 2, Catherine successfully staged a coup but chose to keep Peter under house arrest, rather than kill him. As she attempted to legitimize her rule and bring new ideas to Russia, their relationship became increasingly complex.
