The Devil Wears Prada Synopsis
The Devil Wears Prada is a 2006 American comedy-drama film directed by David Frankel and written by Aline Brosh McKenna, based on the 2003 novel of the same name by Lauren Weisberger. The film stars Anne Hathaway, Meryl Streep, Emily Blunt, and Stanley Tucci, and follows a young journalist who enters the demanding world of fashion publishing in New York City.
Andrea “Andy” Sachs (Anne Hathaway) is an aspiring journalist who moves to New York City hoping to build a career as a writer. She unexpectedly lands a job as the junior assistant to Miranda Priestly (Meryl Streep), the powerful and demanding editor-in-chief of Runway, a leading fashion magazine.
Although Andy has little interest in fashion, she accepts the position because she believes the experience could open doors to better opportunities. However, working for Miranda proves far more difficult than she imagined, with constant demands, long hours, and expectations that leave little room for her personal life.
With help from Runway’s art director Nigel (Stanley Tucci), Andy gradually learns how the fashion industry works and begins changing her appearance and professional attitude. As she becomes more successful at her job, her relationships with her boyfriend Nate (Adrian Grenier) and her friends begin to suffer.
Andy eventually faces a difficult decision about her career, personal values, and the sacrifices she is willing to make to succeed in the fashion industry.
