Carolina Caroline Synopsis
Carolina Caroline is a 2026 American romantic crime thriller film directed by Adam Carter Rehmeier and written by William Thomas Dean IV. The film stars Samara Weaving, Kyle Gallner, Jon Gries, and Kyra Sedgwick, and follows a young woman who leaves her small-town life behind to travel across the American South with a con artist.
The story centers on Caroline Daniels (Samara Weaving), a young gas station attendant living in rural Texas who dreams of escaping her ordinary life. Raised by her father, Hank (Jon Gries), after her mother, Deborah (Kyra Sedgwick), abandoned her as a baby, Caroline hopes to reconnect with the woman she has never known.
Her life changes when she meets Oliver Anderson (Kyle Gallner), a charming con artist who introduces her to a world of scams and easy money. Drawn to Oliver and the possibility of a different future, Caroline joins him on a road trip through the southeastern United States, hoping to reach South Carolina and find her estranged mother.
As their relationship develops, the couple becomes involved in increasingly serious crimes, including bank robberies. Their journey becomes more dangerous as Caroline struggles with Oliver’s violent behavior and the consequences of their decisions. What begins as an escape from small-town life gradually forces her to confront difficult questions about love, family, and her own future.
The film premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 5, 2025, before receiving its US theatrical release through Magnolia Pictures on June 5, 2026.
