A Story of Derry Synopsis
A Story of Derry is a 2026 American horror, drama, and mystery short film directed by Tazbah Chavez and written by Cherie Dimaline and Jasmyne Flournoy. Based on the world created by Stephen King, the 30-minute Halloween special is connected to the HBO horror series It: Welcome to Derry and explores the origins of the ancient evil associated with Pennywise.
Set in pre-colonial Maine, hundreds of years before Pennywise terrorizes Derry, the story follows three young Native Americans: Neekani (Kiawentiio), Kino (Isabel DeRoy-Olson), and Maneese (Michael Podemski-Bedard). Despite warnings from their elders about English settlers and a dangerous spirit living in the forest, the three venture into the Western Wood to hunt.
During their journey, they encounter a murderous shape-shifting entity and must find a way to contain it before it causes further harm.
