- “Strangers in a Strange Land”- A warning from a bus passenger leads to a frantic effort by the town’s residents to protect themselves and their guests. Meanwhile, Jade shares his knowledge of symbols with Ethan, and Jim joins forces with Tom and two other passengers to rescue Tabitha from a dangerous hole, only for the house to collapse on top of them, trapping them all. In another part of the town, Victor and Tabitha discover a forest through a series of tunnels, while Boyd becomes trapped in a mineshaft and stumbles upon a man named Martin who begs to be put out of his misery.
- “The Kindness of Strangers”- The bus crash survivors struggle to cope with the horrors of their new surroundings, including the monsters that come out at night. Jim and Tom become trapped under a collapsed house, and Tom is killed by a monster. Jim manages to survive until dawn by staying silent. Meanwhile, Tabitha and Victor take refuge in a truck filled with supplies that Victor had stashed away.
After escaping the well, Boyd meets an old man named Martin who has been imprisoned for a long time and is infected with skin worms. Martin infects Boyd, but he tries to hide it from the others. Martin reveals a way to return to town through the tree portal. Boyd later joins Tabitha and Victor, carrying a talisman that keeps them safe from the monsters. Elgin also joins them while fleeing from the monsters. At the diner, Donna, Kenny, and Kristi attempt to calm the newcomers. However, Kristi’s fiancé is suspicious of her disappearance, and a bold man tries to leave but is stopped by Donna.
