The Next Step: Cheer Synopsis
The Next Step: Cheer is a 2026 series that follows Kenzie as she steps away from being known only as a dancer and takes on the challenge of rebuilding a struggling cheer squad after its star coach suddenly leaves.
Set in the world of competitive youth cheer, the series begins with the Comets facing a major setback when their longtime coach joins a rival team and several athletes leave behind her. With the season in danger of falling apart, Kenzie unexpectedly becomes the new coach and finds herself responsible for bringing together an entirely new group of athletes.
What starts as a desperate attempt to keep the team alive quickly turns into something much bigger. Kenzie must recruit new members, manage strong personalities, rebuild confidence, and turn a group of inexperienced and uncertain athletes into a team capable of competing at Nationals. Along the way, friendships shift, rivalries grow, and everyone learns that cheerleading demands far more than routines and stunts.
