Francesca Next Door Synopsis
Francesca Next Door (Korean: 옆자리, 프란체스카) is a 2026 South Korean romantic fantasy comedy television series written by Lee Myung-hoon and starring Han Su-a, Kim Hyun-jin, and Lee Seung-gyu. The series is a spin-off of the 2005–2006 MBC sitcom Hello Franceska, bringing its vampire universe into a modern high school setting.
The story follows Pi Na-yeong, also known as Francesca, a teenage vampire who leaves Romania hoping to experience an ordinary human life. After arriving in South Korea, she enrolls at Duil High School, where everyday activities and classroom routines present unfamiliar challenges.
Na-yeong meets Jang U-ju, a responsible second-year student and class president who comes from a family of medical professionals. U-ju is focused on his studies and plans to attend medical school, but his routine changes when he is asked to help Na-yeong adjust to her new surroundings.
As the two spend more time together, their relationship begins to develop beyond their initial friendship. However, Na-yeong must keep her vampire identity hidden while learning how to navigate school, friendships, and romantic feelings.
Another vampire, Yu-hyeol, complicates her situation by warning her about the dangers of becoming too involved in the human world. Na-yeong must decide how to balance her desire for a normal teenage life with the responsibilities and secrets connected to her supernatural identity.
