Devils’ Crest (Demonzu Kuresto) is a 2026 Japanese science-fiction fantasy anime series based on the work of Reki Kawahara, the author of Sword Art Online and Accel World. The series explores mixed reality, where a virtual role-playing game becomes connected to the real world, creating a dangerous situation for its players.
The story follows Yuma Ashihara, an elementary school student invited to test Actual Magic (AM), the world’s first fully immersive virtual reality multiplayer online role-playing game. Alongside his classmates Sawa Ashihara, Kenji Kondo, and Minagi Sano, Yuma enters the game to complete a dungeon challenge.
Their mission is to defeat a powerful boss, finish the test session, and return safely to the real world. Although the group successfully completes the battle, they discover that they cannot log out.
When Yuma eventually wakes up, he finds that the boundary between the game and reality has changed. His classmates begin experiencing unusual transformations, while the abilities and magic they gained inside Actual Magic can now be used in the real world.
As the situation becomes increasingly dangerous, Yuma and his friends must understand what has happened while trying to survive a world where the rules of the game have become part of everyday life.
