The Wainwrights

His wife, Elizabeth, is a loving mother and wife, although she struggles to cope with the harsh realities of life in Briercliffe. William and Elizabeth have six children: Sarah, Jack, Rebecca, Joshua, Martha, and the youngest, Mary.
Sarah is the eldest and is determined to help her family get by, often taking on extra work to supplement the family income. Jack is a kind and gentle boy who loves his family but is often overlooked in favor of his siblings. Rebecca is a bright, independent young woman who dreams of a better life for her family. Joshua is a strong, loyal young man who works hard to help his family. Martha is a gentle and loving soul who loves her family but is often overshadowed by her siblings. And Mary is the youngest and most beloved of the Wainwrights; she is determined to make a better life for her family.
The Other Residents of Briercliffe
In addition to the Turner and Wainwright families, 1883 introduces a host of other characters who inhabit Briercliffe.
