Synopsis
Son of a Critch Season 5 is the final season of the Canadian coming-of-age comedy series that follows Mark Critch during his last year of high school in St. John’s, Newfoundland. Created by Mark Critch and Tim McAuliffe and based on Critch’s memoir, the series stars Benjamin Evan Ainsworth as young Mark alongside Mark Critch, Malcolm McDowell, Claire Rankin, Colton Gobbo and Sophia Powers.
Set in 1992, the final season finds Mark preparing for adulthood while becoming increasingly determined to pursue acting and comedy. His senior year brings changing friendships, a more complicated relationship with Fox, graduation and new opportunities to perform, while his family faces an uncertain future amid major changes in Newfoundland.
The season also incorporates the 1992 northern cod moratorium, which had a major economic impact on Newfoundland and Labrador.
