
Does anyone else remember when the action movie landscape wasn’t littered with superheroes? No? Well then come on down with me and let’s take a trip back to the 1990s to count down our very favorite action movies of the decade.
Con Air – Hulu
The film stars Nicolas Cage as parolee Cameron Poe being transported along with some of the worst criminals out there. When the inmates attempt to stage an escape plan, Poe has to join forces with the onboard U.S. Marshall, played by John Cusack.
Bad Boys – Netflix
Mike (Will Smith) and Marcus (Martin Lawrence) are partners in the Miami-Dade police department who are tasked with tracking down a large number of drugs that were stolen from the evidence room.
The Rock – TNT
Nicolas Cage is back again, this time as a chemical warfare expert from the FBI who teams up with an ex-spy (Sean Connery) to stop an attack on San Francisco from Alcatraz Island.
Mission: Impossible – Starz
The first in the Tom Cruise Mission Impossible series was directed by Brian De Palma, released in 1996, and kick-started Cruise’s trend of performing the most dangerous stunts imaginable.
The Fifth Element – Rent or buy from $2.99 and up.
A futuristic tale set in the 23rd century, The Fifth Element stars Bruce Willis and Milla Jovovich as a cabbie and the girl who falls from the sky and into his car. She also happens to be the one person capable of preventing the end of the world.
Leon: The Professional – Crackle
The movie that made Natalie Portman famous. Portman, who was only 11 years old when she was cast for the film, held her own among acting greats like Gary Oldman and French actor Jean Reno.
Face/Off – Netflix
John Travolta and Nicolas Cage switch faces – what could possibly go wrong? Directed by the famed John Woo, Face/Off was a major hit and gave these two actors the unique challenge of playing both the good and bad guys.
Desperado – Starz
Directed by Robert Rodriguez, Desperado is set in the world of Mexican drug cartels and stars Salma Hayek and Antonio Banderas as strangers who meet in the crossfire.

This Arnold Schwarzenegger film is about a spy attempting to live a normal life with his oblivious family. The film also stars Jamie Lee Curtis in one of her most memorable roles.
There are a lot of presidents in movies, but most of them are not exactly what we would call bad-ass. They just give rousing speeches. But when this particular president’s plane is hijacked, the criminals are in a world of pain and regret when the president (played by Harrison Ford) fights back.
