The Flores Massacre (2026) Synopsis
The Flores Massacre, also known as La masacre de Flores, is a 2026 Argentine true-crime documentary miniseries that examines the 1994 Flores Massacre in Buenos Aires. The three-part HBO Original series follows Matías Bagnato, the only survivor of an arson attack that killed four members of his family and a family friend.
On February 17, 1994, 16-year-old Matías escaped a fire that destroyed his family home. Investigators identified Fructuoso Álvarez González, a businessman with financial connections to the Bagnato family, as the main suspect.
The documentary follows the criminal investigation, the trial, and Matías’s struggle to rebuild his life while fearing further threats from the man responsible for his family’s deaths. It also examines his decades-long campaign for justice and how the case contributed to changes in Argentine legislation and protections for crime victims.
