The New Stanford Prison Experiment Synopsis
The New Stanford Prison Experiment reimagines the controversial 1971 Stanford Prison Experiment, originally conducted by psychologist Philip Zimbardo. This time, 30 volunteers enter a real prison in Georgia for a carefully supervised two-week social experiment. Eight participants receive positions of authority as guards, while the remaining 22 experience life as prisoners. What begins as a structured psychological exercise quickly develops into a tense struggle for control. As relationships change, some participants challenge the rules while others embrace their newfound power. A team of experts monitors their behavior, supported by modern safety measures and psychological oversight. The result is a provocative Netflix reality series that asks how much our surroundings influence our choices, identities, and moral boundaries.
