On February 28, 2022, floodwaters in Lismore reached a record 14.4 metres, leaving residents trapped and forcing local people to carry out thousands of rescues. Another major flood arrived just a month later, placing even more pressure on a community already dealing with damaged homes, lost belongings and disrupted livelihoods.
Kate guides the story through personal conversations with Geoffrey S Hannah OAM, Amarina Toby, Ashlee Jones, Dr Laurie Axten and Dee Mould. Each person shares a different experience of the flood, from rescuing neighbours and protecting family members to returning home and discovering the full scale of the destruction.
