The series returns with a fresh group of amateur musicians who sit down at public pianos in busy locations such as Sydney’s Circular Quay, Brisbane’s Queen Street Mall, and markets in Melbourne. Many of the performers are not professional musicians, but they bring deeply personal stories and emotional connections to the instrument.
Host Amanda Keller once again guides viewers through the experience as the show travels across the country discovering hidden musical talent. Behind the scenes, classical pianist Andrea Lam returns as a mentor and is joined this season by singer and songwriter Guy Sebastian.
Neither the performers nor the public realize at first that they are being watched by the mentors, who carefully observe each performance before choosing one pianist from each location. Those selected musicians later receive coaching and the opportunity to perform at a special finale concert held at Sydney’s City Recital Hall, one of the country’s most iconic classical music venues.
