Created by Michele Val Jean, this groundbreaking series follows the lives of the Dupree family, a wealthy African-American family residing in a gated community in Maryland, just outside Washington, D.C. While they present an image of Black royalty, their lives behind closed doors are filled with scandals, betrayals, and secrets. The show marks the first new daytime soap opera on a major U.S. network since Passions in 1999 and the first predominantly Black daytime soap since Generations (1989–1991).

The series is developed and produced by the CBS Studios/NAACP Venture in partnership with P&G Studios and distributed by Paramount Global Content Distribution.
