7 Breaking Bad Characters We’re Dying to See in Season 4 of Better Call Saul

Via AMC

Each season of Better Call Saul has so far brought back characters from its parent series Breaking Bad. There’s Saul (Bob Odenkirk) of course, but we’ve also seen both Mike Ehrmantraut (Jonathan Banks) and Hector Salamanca (Mark Margolis) have prominent storylines. The most recent season was no different with drug kingpins Don Eladio (Steven Bauer) and Gus Fring (Giancarlo Esposito) finding their way into the series.

With Better Call Saul returning for its fourth season on August 6, there are definitely some Breaking Bad characters we hope to see cross paths with our favorite crooked lawyer.

Patrick Kuby (Bill Burr)

One of Saul’s hired goons in Breaking Bad, he was down for anything from train robbing to faking it as an environmental auditor. Referred to by Saul as part of his “A-Team,” Patrick Kuby often worked alongside Huell Babineaux (Lavell Crawford), who we saw pop up in the Better Call Saul season 3 episode “Chicanery.” If we see Huell make his way into a few more season 4 episodes it’s highly likely that at some point his knuckleheaded partner in crime will be along as well.

Skinny Pete (Charles Baker)

Skinny Pete wasn’t much of a threat while on Breaking Bad, though he did introduce Jesse and Walt to the psychopath known as Tuco (Raymond Cruz). Considering that Skinny Pete tells Jesse on Breaking Bad that he met Tuco while being locked up and that on Better Call Saul Tuco is currently locked up, a Skinny Pete appearance seems probable. If nothing else, Saul is eventually going to need the help of some local lowlifes to help in whatever season 4 schemes he’s cooking up. Skinny Pete could be one of those lowlifes to lend a hand.

Badger (Matt Jones)

The friend of fellow Albuquerque drug dealers Jesse Pinkman and Skinny Pete, Badger was almost always good for a laugh whenever he appeared in a Breaking Bad episode. He also happened to be one of the few characters who wasn’t much worse off at the end of the series than he was at the beginning. That’s quite a feat when nearly everyone he was associated with – other than Skinny Pete – was either dead or left with their life in shambles. Way to go, Badger!

Old Joe (Larry Hankin)

Okay, Old Joe was never one of the show’s standout characters, but working him into an episode of BCS seems totally plausible. The junkyard proprietor helped Jesse and Walt get out of a jam on several occasions on Breaking Bad. (Most notably the one where they needed a giant magnet.) Saul is no stranger to concocting hairbrained ideas and sooner or later it’s likely that his services could come into play for either Saul or Mike Ehrmantraut (Jonathan Banks).

Hank Schrader (Dean Norris)

Poor Hank, the man met an end that he definitely didn’t deserve (there is no spoiler alert when the show ended five years ago, sorry). Saul might not yet be the attorney for the Southwest’s most powerful drug kingpin, but he’s certainly crossing paths with some major enemies of the DEA. Hank not only provided the occasional comic relief on the show, but was key to some of Breaking Bad’s tensest moments in its final two seasons. Considering that Dean Norris posted a photo on Instagram of him and Vince Gilligan on a set just two months ago, a cameo could be on the horizon.

Jesse Pinkman (Aaron Paul)

We haven’t seen Heisenberg’s partner in crime yet in BCS, but that’s not to say it won’t happen. Fans of the show have gone so far as to speculate about possible graffiti in background scenes being the handiwork of Jesse. Whether there’s any truth to that, we’ll have to wait and see, but an appearance by Mr. Pinkman isn’t something just fans are hoping for, but an idea that series co-creator Vince Gilligan “desperately” wants to happen also. Considering that Aaron Paul followed Dean Norris’ lead with a teasing Instagram photo of him hanging out in front of the AMC network’s sign, Jesse Pinkman could be making a return.

Walter White (Bryan Cranston)

Via AMC/Giphy

A cameo by Walter White has to be BCS’ great white whale. It’s a longshot, but even a simple scene with still straightlaced chemistry teacher Walter White walking by in the background would be a real delight to fans. Having Walt play any sort of significant role on the show probably isn’t likely since both Saul and Mike are complete strangers to Walt when they do finally meet in season 2 of Breaking Bad. If the day ever does come when Cranston gets a request to do the show, he told Entertainment Weekly that it’s a simple “yes.”

If season 4 is anything like the previous seasons, we’re likely to see some familiar faces on Better Call Saul. The only question is who and how will they play into the story?
