Before you dive into the new season, now is the perfect time to refresh your Season 5 memory. A lot went down last season, and you better believe your favorite characters will absolutely be dealing with the fallout.

From Piper and Alex’s proposal to Daya’s decision to shoot Humphrey, there’s no shortage of drama to explore in Season 6. Now that the women are facing an intense level of scrutiny, the chances of them turning on one another are high. As poor as conditions could be at Litchfield, maximum security prison is sure to be its own special hell.

For the characters who were left standing after Piscatella’s torture — and ultimate death at the hands of an officer — the pressure to turn each other in is going to be immense. That goes double if there’s even a small chance of getting out.

Before you head to max on July 27, here are 10 moments from Orange Is the New Black Season 5 that you need to remember.

1. Daya Shoots Humphrey

Cara Howe/Netflix

Facing pressure to take control of the situation, Daya shoots the sadistic CO Humphrey in the leg. His wound isn’t fatal, but while he’s in the infirmary, Suzanne’s ex-girlfriend Maureen created an air bubble in his IV that triggered a stroke. Not long after, Humphrey died. Even though she’s not responsible for his death, Daya turns herself over in hopes that the rest of the inmates will be given amnesty for taking part in the riot.

2. Taystee Fights For Justice

Jojo Whilden/Netflix

At the start of the riot, Taystee fights hard to find justice for her fallen friend, Poussey. She forces Caputo to read a statement about Poussey and then spends the rest of the season advocating for her fellow inmates. Her fight for better living conditions ultimately falls apart at the end of the season when police raid the prison, and all deals are called off.

3. Lorna Is Pregnant

Jojo Whilden/Netflix

Nicky doesn’t believe Lorna is pregnant at first, but after a couple of dozen pregnancy tests, she believes her. Lorna’s expecting her husband Vincent’s baby, but she also being relocated to max. Given the stress of the situation and her dangerous new home, it’s unclear what comes next for her.

4. Alex & Piper Get Engaged

Jojo Whilden/Netflix

In one of Season 5’s rare sweet moments, Piper proposes to Alex. After five seasons of their on-and-off again relationship, the women appear to be ready to make a major commitment to one another. There’s just one problem: as the trailer reveals, no one knows where Alex is after the riot.

5. Linda Is Mistaken For An Inmate

Jojo Whilden/Netflix

Linda, who works for the people responsible for the budget cuts that led to the riot, dresses as an inmate in order to blend in after being trapped in the prison. Unfortunately, her disguise works a little bit too well, and no one believes that she’s not supposed to among the prisoners after the riot ends. In the Season 6 trailer, it appears that she’s in fact still among the inmates now that they’re in max. (Surely, someone will figure out she hasn’t been convicted of a crime eventually, right?)

6. Maria Releases The Guards

Jojo Whilden/Netflix

After hearing about Gloria’s plan to release the guards in order to obtain amnesty and see her hospitalized son, Maria steals the plan for herself in hopes of seeing her baby daughter. However, once she releases the guards, the inmates have no leverage left. This leads to the raid, and it could make Maria a target in Season 6.

7. Pennsatucky Hides Out With Coates

Jojo Whilden/Netflix

Missing during the raid is Pennsatucky. She ventures into the woods behind the prison and ends up in the home of Coates, the guard who raped her in Season 3. Earlier in Season 5, she helped Coates escape the prison, and in the final episode, he cuddles with her on his couch as the riot unfolds. Since she’s seen at max in the Season 6 trailer, it appears that she’s discovered at some point. The question is, will Coates turn her in or will she be found another way?

8. Chang Escapes

Jojo Whilden/Netflix

Chang is yet another missing inmate. She slips out of a hole in the fence and isn’t seen from again. Whether or not her escape is permanent remains to be seen, but if anyone could manage to disappear permanently, it would be the resourceful Chang.

9. The Inmates Are Put On Separate Buses

Jojo Whilden/Netflix

At the end of the season, best friends Flaca and Maritza were placed on separate buses, and they weren’t alone. It’s unclear whether the different buses means some of the prisoners are being taken somewhere other than max, but it is possible viewers will be seeing more than one prison in Season 6.

10. The Last 10 Standing

Jojo Whilden/Netflix

The last 10 inmates in the prison are Piper, Alex, Suzanne, Red, Taystee, Cindy, Blanca, Nicky, Gloria, and Freida. Right before the SWAT team finds them hiding out in the prison’s old pool, they release Piscatella. He’s promptly shot and killed by one of the officers involved in the raid. There’s a strong possibility that his death will be pinned on one of the 10 women remaining in the prison. And even if it’s not, the fact that they weren’t rounded up with the others could mean they’ll be part of the overall investigation about who started the raid.

Orange Is the New Black Season 6 will be streaming on Netflix starting July 27, so if you’re planning a re-watch, now is the time!
